Well it was a not grand but a pleasant evening was had by all. The Grand a restaurant located in Berlin’s Mitte district .I decided to meet with a very good friend and dine at this restaurant / lounge just a few doors away from the Soho House!The Grand is a modern place that when one is not sure of what to do and want’s a little glamor Berlin Style !!This may just be the place to do it.
We were greeted in a pretty dark entrance which always put’s me off a little bit but then again that’s how it is.We were seated by a waitress who was a little cold but hey I guess that’s Berlin style take it or leave it.One must not expect too much lovey dovey in this place.After being seated we decided on having a glass of red wine for my date and I a bottle of mineral water since I have cut down on the bubbly lately. Finally having made up my mind I decided for my main course Flounder in a delicate light sauce with accompanied by a very good dark risotto and sauteed celery. The mix was original and I have to admit well prepared and executed so that my taste buds were happy.We later decided to share a desert that was also light which when it comes to deserts one can never be sure.The desert a creamy White Mousse with a light layering of Berry gelee and a fried fig to boot .This desert was light ,delicate and also a very good ending of an intimate dinner with a friend .I had to admit that one could not complain about the food .We were happy with our meals but there was something that was not perfect the energy was not right for me.I realized there was another room in the back so I went to investigate and what I found was a really cool and relaxed bar !!This cool lounge made up for the stiffness off the well decorated slightly dark lit restaurant. Later I realized this is a good place for meeting friends for a drink it is so very Berlin and still upscale in an low key sort of way.The Grand is not inexpensive but the food is fresh and well executed and this must be said.
The service even though not perfect ,I was not totally put off since I decided I would return the food did the talking and the cute bartender at the lounge ,who was charming made up for the others completely. I enjoyed the lounge!!!!Check it out I am intrigued what others will think or am I just fussy!!!!!.
