Berlin is truly international at least in their culinary tastes, which can be quite eclectic at times.
Even though I love going to gourmet restaurants,I am a true fan of traditional cuisines and restaurants that are not pricey but full on originality.So recently my friend and I visited a nice small neighborhood restaurant in Berlin’s quirky district of Kreuzberg. We made a visit to Caminito a small restaurant in the Katzbachstrtasse 9 10965 Berlin Tel.030 319 55 555 open Tue.- Sat.The restaurant vibrant in colors Red,Electric Blue,Green and Yellow which I must say truly lift the spirits was fun to look at. The decor also included various culinary products from Argentina and Latin America which accentuates their latino appeal.
We decided to sit outside where one can soak up some of the urban flair from the pedestrians walking by.I decided on a Ginger Ale and my partner on a Quilmes which was an Argentinean Beer, which turned out to be pretty good and my partner being a beer connoisseur definitely knows!
With that our flamboyant waiter took our orders , a mixed salad with avocados which I must say was not truly original! it was very standard and at that point I was a little sad, why?
because I was hoping to get a salad that would knock my feet off since I loved the atmosphere of the place! I was surprised but not in a good way!After our salad we were given our orders of Enchiladas and Burritos ,which are recipes made from corn meal one as a pastry and the other as a crepe which were both filled with vegetables and chicken and to my surprise were quite simple but tasty!and combined with a slightly spicy tomato salsa sauce livened up both the dishes.Well friends the food overall was nice it will not be one of my favorite places but if you are curious about the Argentinian cuisine and are not looking for a culinary highlight then this place is quite nice to visit.
The owner and his waiter were open and friendly and offered good service and that’s always a plus in Berlin,with that said if you are looking for a little bit of originality in Berlin, then this is a nice location,remember it’s not great but a nice little sweet restaurant in the heart of Berlin’s Kreuzberg a stone throw away from Berlin’s renowned Bergmannstrasse.I must tell you for 30 Euro this included the tip it’s a pretty good deal so off to Caminito for a little Latin flair .
