The stars will come and go in the two weeks during the “Berlin Film Festival”Berlinale !!!! naturally many will stay in hotels such as the Ritz Carlton and of course the new Waldorf Astoria Berlin and the Berlin Grand Hyatt !!! however there are those intimate and elegant Hotels in Berlin that have a wonderful aura who also believe in bit of discretion which make them a Discrete Travelers Dream when one does not need the High Voltage Glam!!!Hotel.The Hotel-Gendarm-Berlin That I discovered a few weeks back is one of those really adorable Hotels located at one of the most beautiful locations in Berlin the Gendarmenmarkt!!This location includes the exquisite Konzerthaus constructed by the German Architect Schinkel-in-Berlin the whole location!!!! I think has true old European charm it has space, old european allure without being too overdone.
Gendarmenmarkt is a classic architectural beauty at its Best!!!Well I went to the Art Nouveau Hotel for the night first of all the lobby is Small and intimate which for many is a welcoming this is unique since often some hotels can really overwhelm one!!
So First the décor in the lobby is friendly and still has its charm albeit small with a little bar and a small sitting area in the front where one can actually relax and feel comfy!!! it lends to a warm atmosphere which I guess is what they wanted to achieve and its truly a plus for this Hotel!!!So I went off to my room I was lucky this evening I had the opportunity to have the corner room with a romantic panorama of the Gendarmenmarkt talk about classic and romantic all in one!!!The interesting detail was that even though your on the street the room was very quiet which is important since I hate rooms with bad insolation.I decided to take a walk on the Gendarmenmarkt berlin which also has the “French Dome” Franzoesischer Dom!!
After having a brisk walk I was off to bed in this very spacious room that had a dark theme of bordeaux Purple and Gray tones quite interesting since I thought the combination was quite daring but worked well!!! with a well proportioned room with both a toilet and bathroom I was very happy!!!I am fussy about hangers like Joan Crawford but here they paid attention to such details the hangers in a nice mid brown tone always gets me smiling!!!
and made me quite happy to hang up my clothing for the next day!!!!so I took a shower and was off to bed which was comfortable, spacious and comfyI felt like Friedrich the Great himself!!!! The next morning I decided to have breakfast in their Breakfast room which was small but was designed with attention to detail so the room itself was adorable and ideal for singles , and business folk traveling alone it was a good option since even though I was at a table alone I did not feel self conscious.The service is really friendly and they make you feel welcomed .I am going to assume this is always the advantage when a hotel is not super large they have the opportunity to pay attention to detail and their clients, Today in our busy world this really means a great deal to folks on the run!!!!I met up with tourists from Norway,London and Eastern Germany and they all agreed the hotel was a really adorable jewel in the city!!! so if not sure where to stay in Berlin this is a true good option of where to stay when in Berlin when you want something upscale but not uptight!!!Hotel am Hotel-Gendarm-Berlin is a good option and since Berlin has so many hotels it becomes difficult to find one with a little charm!!!!well Hotel-Gendarm-Berlin is truly all that and more!!!
P.S. They don’t have a gym but then again there is the Tiergarten Park which is a runners dream and not too far away so for the fitness freaks you have a really good option!!!!
