This Museum / Gallery dedicated to Photography has been in Berlin for the past few years, but after having to relocate from Berlin’s Mitte district to Charlottenburg one was not sure if the museum would retain its cache’ well now residing in the Amerika Haus complex, which was in the past a cultural center dedicated to American History .C/O took over the complex and refurbished this 60’s complex into a modern and progressive museum celebrating Photography.Currently they are presenting two exhibitions that touches one both emotionally ,and creatively. The museum presently is showing to exhibitions which include work from Sebatiano Salgado entitled Genesis and the second exhibit Distance and Desire with photos from both European and African Photographers who depict various periods and styles that portray the different facets of the African people which included work from the talented photographer Seydou Keita. In the galleries main exhibition rooms were the photos of Genesis show, which presented photography that are both moving and breathtaking. The show includes landscape photos that cover diverse continents, wild animals and indigenous people that range from Siberia to Brazil and beyond. The works are moving and lend to the exhibition making a strong statement. This exhibit brings to ones attention the importance of both nature and the indigenous communities on our planet. I was delighted to be at the Museums new location and even more delighted to be both creatively and intellectually inspired. I had a tea in their cafe, bought a few things in the book store and headed home and happy that i went to C/O Berlin a creative force in this city.
