BoboQ, a little bit of Taiwan in Berlin

The rounded-up, curious tea beverage invented in Taiwan, has come to Berlin! We are speaking of the bubble tea (or bubble tea with pearls, to be more precise). The place, boboQ Qjust a few meters off the world shoppers mecca KaDeWe, is crowded with asian students sporting some amusing individual styles. The pearls themselves (bobas), refferred to in the menu as QQ, could’t look more artificial. But don’t be fooled by the fluo colours. It’s all nature: either tapioca or jellies, made ou of brown sugar, different fruits or yoghurt.
You have the choice between the more traditional milk bubble tea (cold or hot) or the flavoured juice tea, a tea base mixed with fruit (cold) and a pearl topping of your choice.
When I am not sure about what to order I ask for the “all time favourite”. I end up sipping a surprisingly tasteful QQ black tea with tapioca, (traditional Chinese: 泡沫紅茶; pinyin: pào mò hóng chá; literally “foam red tea”, Achtung, bitte: just for the record, the last sentence is copyed and pasted from Wikipedia). Just can’t believe that Sean ended up with an ordinary café americano. Only the braves….
